What Thermal Insulation mean?
It is the
process of preventing the heat to pass from a field to
another, and contrary prevent the cold air from going
outside from inside.
“Thermal
insulation designed to reduce the transmission of heat from
outside the isolated building to inside within the summer
and from inside to outside in winter.
The importance of thermal
insulation:
-
The main objective of the thermal insulation is to keep the energy
through saving consumption, where scientific experiments
has proved that the uses of thermal insulation in
residential and government facilities, commercial and
industrial buildings is reducing the electric power
rates up to 50%.
-
Create a comfortable and refreshing atmosphere and raising the level of
comfort for users of the building throughout the year.
-
Protection of furniture and electrical appliances and electronics from
the high temperatures and changes ongoing.
-
Maintain the building temperature appropriate for a long time without
having to run air conditioning for long periods of time.
-
Allows the use of air conditioners with a small capacity, thereby
reducing energy costs and hardware being used.
-
Reduce the use of air-conditioning, which reduces the impact on
psychological health and rights because of noise from
the operation of such devices.
-
Thermal insulation works on the protection and safety of the building
from weather changes as it reduces the temperature
difference resulting from the rise in temperature
because of the sun during the day and low night
temperature and cause high differences in temperature
between day and night to bring about stress to the walls
of the building and other parts such as windows deprives
the natural and mechanical properties and can lead to
the cracks.
-
Lead to reduce the thickness of the concrete walls and ceilings to
reduce heat transfer to inside the building.
-
To provide the burden on the power stations and distribution networks.
How to choose
insulation materials ?
There are many factors have to be taken in consideration
when choosing the type of thermal insulation materials,
which are for example:
-
Insulation
material has to have low thermal conductivity, and high
thermal resistance.
-
Insulation
material has to be a long life material.
-
Insulation
material should not be affected by insignes.
-
High resistance
to water elaborating.
-
High resistance
to have a very less water absorption.
-
Is not affected
by the time, which means excellent quality and good
production procedure.
-
Some type can be
manufactured in many colors according to the factory,
which give no importance to the color when choose this
type.
Expanded Polystyrene
Expanded
Polystyrene is one of the most famous type of material using in the
world, it is used in different sectors in industries and Agriculture
and medical applications and more else. Expanded polystyrene is one the
pioneers application in thermal insulation and has been in use for many
years in a big rang in its field because of its ability in insulation
for long time and never affected by the time it is also never worn out
and remain in the building for its life that is only if it is produced
according the proper and controlled procedures in production line. It
is produced by molding it through injecting the material in molds after
the PR expansion which will make a closed cell very light in weight and
has long thermal insulation and even it remain as it is will never
change if it used properly.
Extruded Polystyrene
XPS
is one of the best for both general and specialized applications. Its
excellent resistance to moisture, imperviousness to rot, mildew and
corrosion, controlled compressive strength and ability to maintain
insulating power make XPS foam a premiere insulating material for
commercial, industrial and residential structures. The closed-cell
structure and lack of voids in XPS helps the foam to resist moisture
penetration better than other types of insulating materials. In fact,.
Polyurethane
Polyurethane
is distinguished by a factor of low thermal conductivity, made in the
form of plates covered on both sides with bitumen paper or aluminum
foil or asphalt felt , and is used in insulating roofs and walls, it's
also made in various forms to isolate the pipeline. Polyurethane easy
to use and apply, lightweight but strong and bear the mechanical
stresses, resistance to acids, chemicals, bacteria, and its fire
retardant.
Rock wool
Rock
wool is produced from volcanic basalt rocks after melted at very high
temperatures up to 1500 degrees Celsius, and then spun in a
double-spinning to fibers or filaments accurate and smooth. It's
manufactured in the form of semi-solid or solid plates or blankets,
mattresses, felt, pipes and loose wool. Rock wool is characterized by
high ability to fire proofing it is non-flammable, and the method of
manufacture of fiber makes it sound insulation, high efficiency in
addition to being an excellent thermal insulator.
It can be provided with different facing materials to help improve its
performance in various applications like: aluminum foil, bituminized
paper, glass veil, polyethylene bags and so on.
